We are looking for the following organisations: University, Research institution, Large Enterprise, End user organisation, Evaluation (trials) specialist organisation, Marketing specialist organisation, Business partner

The Assisted Living System (ALS)

The ALS will focus on providing a means to Assisted Living for Life; primarily aimed at ageing but with the capability to be used and adapted for all people no matter what age.  A subsystem “Virtual Assisted Living System” (VALS) will support the ALS.

The VALS will be conceived, specified, designed, developed, and implemented using the ISO/IEC 15288 objectives and requirements i.a.w. international cooperation and standards for the needs of people. Implementation will be gained by using a “Technical Management Plan” derived from ISO/IEC 15288 which will specify the processes, methods, procedures and documentation templates.

In the concept phase and the System Requirements Review the VALS programme will use all available data created by the EU member states (AAL Roadmap, etc.) to define the needs, priority, and feasibility of the system and subsystems architecture being proposed.

The scope of the VALS will be to provide an open architecture, robust, adaptable, usable, etc. system where assisted living can be provisioned in an efficient and effective way throughout the EU and maybe globally.

Key elements or subsystems that comprise the VALS:

Environment monitoring;

Health monitoring;

Social and business Interactivity;

Health support;

Information supply;

Education and Learning;

Sustainability;

Etc.

It can be assumed that these capabilities will mainly be achieved using ICT methods and interactivity.

The AAL calls should be based on the outcome of the VALS System Requirements Review and VALS Concept Description Document completed during the Concept phase.  Standardising and ensuring common protocol and standards are maintained will be observed.  Maybe the responsibility for the VALS Concept and initial exploration should be a JPI objective to ensure publicity and early adoption.
