Action type: Research, Development

ITRB Labs was created in 2009 as an R&D Group aiming at combining the great expertise of its senior researchers, mostly coming from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), with the entrepreneurial vision of RTDI, its hosting company, devoted to the development and commercialization of novel ICT. Under the motto "Intelligence in Robotics", the mission of ITRB Labs is to achieve excellence in the area of artificial intelligence, implementing integral R&D cycles with particular focus in self-learning systems for information valorization and adaptive control systems for cooperative robots.

RTDI-ITRB core business is the development of intelligent, self-learning control and coordination systems for multi-robot systems, in a variety of applications. Along this long-term start-up activity, ITRB Labs are working on shorter term R&D areas related to smart self-learning decision support and information management systems. The aim is to reinforce and boost up its core business in terms of technological, financial and commercial capabilities.

ITRB Labs can therefore offer or develop advanced AI techniques to overcome, for example:

  • Developing algorithms for problems with more than one solution available (genetic algorithms)
  • Discovering new patterns from huge data bases, extracting new knowledge from the information (data mining)
  • Developing and implementing adaptable solutions (genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic).
  • Developing and implementing self-learning systems (neural networks, reinforcement learning).
  • Developing Hardware or Software autonomous agents (Robots, neural networks, genetic algorithms, etc).
  • Achieving Agents coordination through collaboration or competition techniques(Game theory)

These R&D activities are carried out in 3 laboratories:

  1. Robotics Lab.
  2. Data Processing Lab.
  3. Reasoning Lab.

Other RTDI-ITRB relevant expertise:

  • Its team includes known researchers in data mining and intelligent robotics.
  • Its personnel agglutinates more than 15 years of experience in coordinating and managing R&D and innovation projects at national and European levels.
  • Its personnel has good expertise in the evaluation, validation and commercialization of novel ICT.
  • Established contacts with the Spanish ICT sector and venture capital agglutinators.

In its compromise to improve, divulge and collaborate in Artificial Intelligence, specially, in Robotics field, ITRB Labs is part of the European Robotics Technology Platform and the European Alliance for Innovation.
