IN2 is headquartered in Birmingham, UK, and also operates a subsidiary in Bremen, Germany. The company delivers intelligent interfaces to audio-visual content and customised solutions and services for searching and presenting of multimedia documents, enhancing their accessibility especially for disabled and older persons. The systems combine audio/image processing and knowledge management techniques to support the annotation of non-structured multimedia content, and improve the accessibility of existing content. Solutions and consulting services address the broadcasting industry, content owners, multimedia libraries, and multimedia information providers and aim in embedding accessibility into mainstream content provider repositories. IN2’s technologies are licensed to third party media asset management solution providers and for their excellence they have been awarded the "Innovationspreis 2007 ITK" in Germany.
IN2 participated in the WearIT@Work FP6 Integrated Project and provided specialised accessible interfaces to wearable computers for searching and presenting location-based information to visually impaired persons. Currently, in the project ImaGeo, we explore the possibility to fuse geo-information with image analysis techniques to provide users with a novel tool for experiencing outdoors activities. ImaGeo is more than just a smart phone app; we are building as well a Web2.0 platform that supports users before and after their trips, engaging them in a vibrant community. We are also currently developing a platform for highly customisable interfaces in the FP7 project IM3I.
IN2 is a member of the Open Wearable Computing Group and an associate member of the AALiance.
