CETEMMSA was officially opened in 1992 as an Innovation and Technology Centre. It was created as the result of a joint initiative by the employers' associations and several public authorities aimed at facilitating the process of technological innovation and business development by offering support in the form of advisory services and the possibility of sharing technical resources. Today, it is recognised by regional, national and international organisations and bodies as a technology centre of reference in the field of technological research and development for the industry and particularly the SMEs.

RFID –Radiofrequency Identification

CETEMMSA works on creating environment and/or activity traceability and/or monitoring devices and systems integrating new wireless technologies allowing a low information transmission rate. We help companies to evaluate the technology and the functionality of the system by carrying out pilot tests and introduce projects using radiofrequency identification at various points in the logistical value chain to ensure full or partial traceability, and assess the advantages and disadvantages of introducing it in the company’s different activities.

 

Cetemmsa’s premises include three laboratories: Textile electronics lab (Smart Objects – deposition techniques), Smart Materials and Devices lab (materials preparation and characterization), RFID lab.

 

Health & Wellbeing applications

One of the most strategic research fields for Cetemmsa focuses on Health & Wellbeing applications. Cetemmsa has leaded many research projects and organized dissemination events in this field:

HAPPY AGEING - A Home based APProach to the Years of AGEING (European Project, Ambient Assisted Living)

HOPE - Smart HOme for the elderly People (European Project, Ambient Assisted Living)

The capacities of the research and IT teams of CETEMMSA are distributed in a multidisciplinary scientific and technological range of expertises: Chemistry, Electronics, Telecommunications, Physics, Industrial Engineering and Textile Engineering, Computer Engineering. At present, the staff of Cetemmsa, its main asset over the years, forms a permanent expert team of fifty professionals and the support of over thirty regular external collaborators.

 

CETEMMSA is an active member of different key European Platforms: The European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing (as Member and Expert in Smart Textiles working group), GEDRT (European Group for the Development of Textile Research), TEXTRANET (European Network of Textile Research Organizations), OE-A (Organic Electronics Association), ETPIS (European Technology Platform on Industrial Safety), MINAM (Micro-nano Manufacturing), PHOTONICS 21, EuMat (European Technology Platform for Advanced engineering Materials and Technologies) and e-VIA (Spanish Technology Platform for Independent living and Accessibility).
