The School of Engineering and Digtial Arts (EDA), University of Kent has strong experience in design, development and evaluation of various digital technologies. Specifically, it has expertise in computer games and virtual worlds, social networking, mobile applications, imaging devices, etc. Apart from these, there is a strong team of academics and researchers in the area of human computer interaction focusing on modelling human behaviour interacting with technology as well as the social dynamics within socio-technical systems. Our team has significant experience in issues surrounding the ways in which (cultural and heritage) information can best to presented to non computer users.

 

EDA also contains particular expertise in 3D organic animation led by a former Senior Computer Graphics Animator for Industrial Light & Magic. The 3D lab is equipped with animation and modelling software together with a green screen studio, as well as a 3D scanner and motion capture technology. Two full time staff provide a wealth of 3D animation experience and have a close association with Framestore CFC, Europe’s largest computer animation company.
