University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI)
The University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) is one of the 7 Universities of Applied Sciences in Switzerland. Besides basic education, SUPSI offers postgraduate courses and applied research facilities to local, national and international industries. SUPSI successfully participated and is currently active in a number of EU projects within the scope of the various framework programs and special research actions like EUREKA. Moreover, SUPSI is founded through regular national programs and direct applied-research grants from the industry. SUPSI is structured in five main departments, which in turn are organized in institutes.
♦ Telecommunication, Telemetry and High Frequency Systems Laboratory (TTHF)
TTHF is part of the Institute of Systems for Applied Electronics (ISEA), which offers a broad range of services in both applied research and technological transfer in multidisciplinary research fields. The Laboratory conducts applied research work in the fields of cabled and wireless telecommunications, telematics, security and design of high frequency systems and sensors. The most significant projects developed by TTHF include those relating to the metrology of non-ionising radiation, microwave-based sensors for non-invasive material identification, telecommunication systems and the design and integration of radio frequency identifiers (RFID) components (TAGs) and systems (antennas and electronics devices).
ISEA focus is on industrial oriented projects in the competence domain of the Institute. ISEA has actively participated in the EU funded project ACTS AC321 “iTTi” (FP4) and is currently active in CLAVIUS (INTERREG-III). Recently TTHF is participating in the European AAL Call 2009 and has successfully filed an important Eurostar. Moreover, SUPSI is founded trough regular national programs (FNSRS, CTI, MICROSWISS) and trough direct applied-research grants from the industry.
TTHF possible role in AAL projects:
Design, Development, Integration and Testing of telecommunication and localization systems (custom low power transceiver, global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), satellite receiver ..)
Design, Development, Integration and Testing of RFID systems (Tags and Readers)
Design, Development, Integration and testing of Wireless sensors
Design of microwave sensors and systems applied in the Non Destructive Analysis of Materials
Antennas and HF/RF Circuits Design
Metrology of telecommunication systems with particular interest for the NIR (Non Ionizing Radiation)
EM Modelling and Simulation
Radio-Planning
