Assistive Automation Research Group has been working with assistive automation for 10-years. Many aspects and technologies have been researched, among them wired and wireless communications, cameras and image processing, video conferencing, wearable computing, advance multimodal user interfaces, home robotics, home servers, positioning and navigation and intelligent furniture.
The current activities and interests:
· Zigbee based home mesh network
· Zigbee based assistive solutions for people with memory disorders
· Door alert system for people with memory disorders
· Home server interfaces to Zigbee and oBIX systems
· Activity monitoring of elderly people living alone
· Integration of assistive systems and devices using home server system
· Intelligent furniture for assisting in people getting up
· Motorized shopping cart
The current skills and premises include:
· Server software programming in C++ and Java
· Microcontroller programming in C
· Microcontroller and electronics hardware design and prototype manufacturing
· Design of electronics systems
· Zigbee software development
· Sensor interfacing and sensor development for activity monitoring
